New boys take Fundraising HAD Golf Trophy
The fifth annual HAD Golf Day swung into action on September 23. The venue was once again Welwyn Garden City Golf Club and the 40 golfers were blessed with perfect playing conditions.

Ricky's no longer under Pa!
Last year's HAD fundraising Golf Day was won by the Perks/PSG team skippered by Rod Perks. It was a bit of a family triumph as Rod was joined by youngest son Ricky as well as John Vinten and Kevin Grenfell.

Edna's Jazz Record
Edna Stephens had plenty to sing about after her annual Jazz on the Island fundraiser raised a record £3,500 on June 25. The Jazz Goats, once again opened up her fantastic Lemsford Village garden for music makers and fans alike.

HAD Patron Athene Sanders Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the recent death of HAD Patron Athene Sanders. Athene died, aged 91, on June 15, just three days after a fundraising garden party at her home raised over £900 for HAD.

Goats appear in Edna's garden fundraiser!
The Jazz Goats make their debut at this year's Jazz on the Island HAD fundraiser on June 25. The six-piece band will join regulars Bob Thomas and the Thomcats at the annual event.

Rocking bands raise the roof and £230
Local pub The Ludwick Arms in Hall Grove was rocking in aid of HAD on June 3. HAD Fundraising Co-ordinator Seb Tull organised the fundraising event which raised £230.

HAD Helping beat Hate Crime
HAD has joined forces with Hertfordshire Police to tackle crimes against disabled people. The new initiative encourages victims of disability hate crime to report incidents to the police or HAD.

Death of Sue Howie
Sue started as a volunteer almost 20 years ago and rapidly became the visionary and inspirational Manager of HAD's Equipment Centre. Sue quickly changed the organisation’s approach when she started to sell mobility equipment.

Day Centre re-locates to The Woodside Centre
Nineteen people with mild to moderate learning disabilities re-located to the Woodside Centre in early May. The group was welcomed by not only HAD but also Herts Society for the Blind and Herts Hearing Advisory Service.

Wheelchair rugby star Chris is such a good sport
Chris plays rugby and gets around in a new Audi A4 Avant. Chris, from Panshanger, Welwyn Garden City, is also a wheelchair user after being involved in a road accident as a passenger in November 2008.

There was plenty of family fun at the eighth annual HAD charity Easter egg hunt and raffle - especially for the Beadle family from WGC, who joined more than 300 people at the event at 13 Lemsford Village.
