Counselling by disabled and able-bodied people

HAD’s Counselling Service was set up in 1991. 

We provide counselling either in the ‘quiet room’ at The Woodside Centre, in people’s homes or at a mutually convenient accessible location. We believe the healing process of counselling takes time, therefore we offer you an open ended connection with your counsellor. The service is free and we only ask for an affordable donation. To this end we have recently implemented a Counsellor/Client Agreement Contract.

The service is available to people with disabilities, family members and carers and is continually growing and evolving. In the last financial year we took on 18 new clients. We welcome new venues and counsellors and the need to keep up-to-date with the latest practices is paramount to us.

The Counselling Service is an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and we regularly attend relevant conferences and lectures.

Our Counselling team is now offering ongoing couple/relationship/family therapy to HAD clients or those coming through HBS.

Therapies

We offer a variety of therapies at The Woodside Centre. These include osteopathic consultations, assessments and treatments, acupuncture, nutritional therapy and foot care.

Nolan Osteopathic Clinic

Ann Nolan is HAD’s resident Osteopath who has been with us since 2009. She works from our Centre on Mondays, Wednesday & Saturdays. Ann qualified in 2007 from The College of Osteopaths in conjunction with Middlesex University and is registered with the General Osteopathic Council.
She has worked with the NHS Healthcare Centre, Haringey, London and at Hoxton Health Group, St Leonard’s Hospital, London.

Ann has experience in Acupuncture for Pain Relief, Foot Biomechanics, Sports Injuries, Orthotics & much more.
HAD clients have been treated for hip/knee replacements, incontinence, back pain, frozen shoulder, neurological pathologies etc.

If you feel you would benefit from a FREE 15 minutes Structural and Postural Assessment this can be arranged for you.

Your initial 1 hour consultation and treatment will be £45 with following treatments varying from £35 to £55.

Carole’s Foot Care

Carole Saunders our Foot Health Practitioner DipCFHP has been working with us since January 2010 and is a member of the Alliance of Private Sector Practitioners. Carole will do local home visits or specific appointments at our centre in Hertfordshire.

Carole specialises in Toenail Trimming, Reduction of thickened nails, Removal of corns and calluses, Ingrowing nails, Diabetic foot care etc.
