Norma plays her cards right!

Keen bridge player Norma Reynolds has come up trumps with a novel way of raising money for HAD.

Norma, from Puckeridge, has invented a range of bidding cards to help new players learn the game.

“I’ve been a keen player for more than 30 years and also do a bit of teaching too,” Norma explained. “These cards are a good way of introducing the finer points of the game and a money raiser too.”

The cards are £3 each and Norma has already sold well over a hundred, mainly to fellow players at her local East Herts Golf Club, where she is Ladies’ Captain.

“HAD is my nominated charity and the two main fundraisers are a bridge drive on October 20 and an on-going ‘eclectic’ golf tournament.

Norma (pictured, right, with good friend HAD Director Margaret McCreadie) has been a golfer for 40 years and plays off 12. She’s planning to enter a team at HAD’s Golf Day at Mill Green on Friday September 19.

If you would like to buy one of the bidding cards contact HAD reception on 01707 324581. If you want to enter a team for our Golf Day at Mill Green, you can download a form on the home page of this website.

Another keen golfer has also pledged her allegiance to HAD this year.

Pauline Maile, Ladies’ Captain at Mill Green Golf Club, held a money-spinning quiz night at the club on March 1 and raised £900 for HAD.

Almost as impressive was the fact that the HAD team of Annabelle Waterfield, Elaine Martin, Simon Brookes and Paul and Mandy Bishop finished a creditable 7th out of 21 teams!
