Identical twins Tamara and Tyara Banerjee are running in this year’s Flora London Marathon – and raising money for Hertfordshire Action on Disability.
The girls – daughters of HAD’s Director of Finance and Administration Jon Banerjee – will be pounding the pavements of the capital on Sunday April 23 hoping to complete the 26-mile course in under five hours. And the twins want people near and far to sponsor them.
“We wanted to run for a local charity close to our hearts so HAD was the perfect choice,” said Tamara, the elder twin by one minute and right in the picture.
We will use the money raised to buy a new vehicle for their 24 Hour Transport Service – the only service of its kind in the country.
Both girls are House Officers – Tamara at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and Tyara at the Conquest Hospital, Hastings. And both are keen athletes, running the 100 and 200 metres for St Albans High School as well as at university, district and club level.
And is running good for you? “Yes, it’s very good for the body, but I’m not sure how we’ll be feeling after 26 miles,” Tyara laughed.
Sponsorship forms are available from HAD or you can download the form here
