Registered Charity No: 1059015
The fully accessible accommodation has been operating for 36 years, but in recent times the number of visitors has dropped dramatically.
“For many years Hertford House provided fantastic holiday facilities to a great number of disabled people throughout the county and beyond,” HAD’s Chief Executive Annabelle Waterfield, explained. “However cheap air flights and implications related to the Disability Discrimination Act have contributed to the slow decline in the number of people using it.”
The charity is to continue offering holidays through a number of organisations, among them the Grosvenor Hotel in Westcliff on Sea. This recently refurbished establishment has 47 single, double, twin and triple rooms on two floors with lift and stair-lifts to all first floor rooms.
As before a full transport service will be provided with the hotel taking holidaymakers from HAD’s Woodside Centre to Westcliff and back and HAD providing transport from their homes to their HQ.
HAD will also continue to provide holiday information for accessible vacations throughout the UK and abroad through its LeisureLine service. LeisureLine will also feature accessible cinemas, theatres, restaurants, shops and sports facilities.
