Magic Night of Jazz...

ednasinging

About 300 people packed into Director Edna Stephens’ Lemsford garden for the second annual Jazz on the Island fundraiser.

Visitors enjoyed magnificent weather on June 17 and came from far and wide – including Sri Lanka – and raised over £2,000.

Bob Thomas and the Thomcats played their Dixieland jazz accompanied by the sound of popping champagne corks.

During the interval Atilla the Hungarian and Alastair Dickie played a set on violin and guitar respectively and psychological entertainer Scott Johnstone baffled the crowd with his fork-bending and other tricks.

Thanks to Sue Howie and Pam and Pat from the yoga group for selling raffle tickets and Bob Pearman’s help in the garden.
Put a note in your diary for next year – June 16, 2007.

Meanwhile long-time HAD supporter Len Carron appeared recently on ‘The Man With Golden Voice” – BBC2’s tribute to his brother-in-law, singer Matt Monro.
