Benefits Advice Service hits the road!
HAD has joined forces with Age Concern Hertfordshire to promote pensions awareness in the county.
This new initiative, backed by the Department for Work and Pensions, was launched in May and features a publicity campaign and roadshow that will tour towns throughout Hertfordshire.
HAD’s fully accessible Mobile Easier Living Centre will feature in the campaign and Karen Beazley (pictured here) will be on board offering an outreach benefits advice service.
The service is greatly needed as Age Concern Hertfordshire’s Community Services Development Manager Bob Green explains: “Government figures tell us that a significant proportion of older people do not claim all they are entitled to. By going out and meeting them face to face we plan to rectify this.”
Hertfordshire Action on Disability’s Mobile Easier Living Centre – also known as Ivanhoe – offers the ideal means of communication. The former railwayman’s maintenance lorry has been travelling the county for several years and is already a frequent visitor to supermarkets and other venues.
“HAD is delighted to be able to team up with Age Concern Hertfordshire and offer this vital service to older people throughout the county,” HAD’s Chief Executive Annabelle Waterfield said.
The benefits advice service will be at the following venues from September until the end of the year (opening times 10.30am -3pm):
