Reduce food waste by moving away from plastic packaging
6 December 2017
Two cheers for the Co-op supermarkets in East Anglia for selling food that is past its 'best before' date in an effort to reduce food waste.
But wouldn't it be better if all the supermarkets and retailers drastically reduced the amount of food items packed in plastic?
Plastic packaging is bad for food, bad for us and bad for the planet. It keeps longer too!
In our house as much food and vegetables as possible is unwrapped from its plastic and polystyrene packaging and stored naturally as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, three cheers for John Lewis in Welwyn Garden City for their mainly cardboard-packed display of traditional toys.
I hope it's a sign of things to come.
