Fundraising and Events
HAD provides many services that are either subsidised or free of charge, from information and advice, travel to equipment assessments. HAD’s existence is very much dependent on the support and generosity that you show us, thus helping us to promote and improve independence and well being, change lives in a positive way. Following the recent local authority cuts to our funding, it has become even more important for us to raise funds.

We have already been really busy this year!
This July Harpenden Rotary Club chose HAD as a beneficiary of their enormously popular Classics on the Common Vintage Car Show.
More than 10,000 people attended, including HAD staff Paul Robinson and Keith Swailes showing off our Mobile Equipment Unit ‘Ivanhoe’. As a result of this great day and our friends at the Rotary club we are in receipt of a £3,000 donation towards helping us carry on our important work. Huge thanks to all Harpenden Rotarians, especially David Law who made it all possible.
Twenty eight year-old HAD Volunteer Brett Waterman has just returned from sailing round the Canary Islands.
Brett loves his job as an Admin Assistant at HAD, where he has worked for five years. He also loves Grand Prix, football and Arsenal FC in particular.
Brett, from Hatfield, who has cerebral palsy and has spent all his life in a wheelchair, has always dreamed of sailing across the open seas. So he embarked on a week long trip around the Canary Islands on The Lord Nelson tall ship on - Valentine’s Day!
Brett, together with carer Sheila Parminter and ‘buddy’ and work colleague Linda Cudmore, raised £3,500 to pay for his challenging adventure of a lifetime.
