We are the champions! Yes musician, record producer, tennis captain and HAD Patron Jeff Wayne has a new song to sing.
Jeff led the Hertfordshire men's tennis team to victory in this summer's county week championship at Eastbourne in July. And they had to do it the hard way; narrowly beating a strong North of Scotland team, complete with Andy and Jamie Murray, 5-4 in one of the matches.
Jeff, a keen tennis player for most of his life, has been Hertfordshire's skipper for 20 years and since making it to the top division five years ago has a pretty impressive record, winning the magnificent silver trophy twice and finishing runners-up three times.
Non-playing captain Jeff, together with squad players Neil Bamford, David Rice, Ed and David Corrie, Nick Lester, Neil Roskilly, George Coupland and Hamid Hejazi, celebrated in style with a meal in London, followed by a party in Soho club Maya where Jeff's son Zeb was the DJ.
