The magic of open-air music and home-made picnics made HAD's fifth annual Jazz on the Island evening a tasty treat on June 20.
Once again the event took place in Director Edna Stephens' Lemsford Village garden and, as always, everyone had a swinging time listening to the New Orleans-inspired jazz of regulars Bob Thomas and the Thomcats and Liqourice Allsax. Bob is pictured above right with trombonist Paul Heley.
And as always we had plenty of fun fundraising - with over £1500 raised by the crowd of 150.
The raffle saw success for the following: Liz Presswell (Cleo Laine and John Dankworth signed CD box set); Alan Pounder (Jeff Wayne’s War of the World’s gift set); Della Harris, Elaine Barrow and Sybil Howgego (Clarins gift sets); Ann Mead (paintball tickets); Marion Wilson and Graham Tait (bottles of port) and Mark Sheridan (signed Bob Thomas print).
Thanks to Edna for all her hard work and great food! Thanks also to HAD’s fundraising team of: Annabelle Waterfield, Margaret McCreadie and Dave Cocks. Thanks also to Jon Banerjee, Steve Stephens and Bob Pearman for helping with the parking and Vic Chamberlain and Jeff Wayne for their continued support.
